Chef Jean-Georges’s Thai-inspired Cuisine

Lately there has been a flowering of Thai-inspired restaurants worldwide which are under the guidance of a Western chef, even in Bangkok much to the chagrin of some Thai people! One of the first Western chefs to forge the path, long before the current trend, was French Chef Jean-Georges Vongerichten with his Thai-inspired French cuisine.

If you’re in NYC, stop by one of his more recently created restaurants, Spice Market, which features an Asian street-food inspired menu. Pick up a Bento box which includes fusion dishes like a spicy Thai slaw and a “Ovaltine kulfi with caramelized banana and spiced milk chocolate” dessert.

You can join Spice Market cooking classes at the beautiful Shangri-La Hotel in Vancouver, Canada beginning this Monday, November 8th up until the last day of the month. The classes will be taught by Anthony Ricco, the executive chef of Spice Market. Chef Ricco will also be working with the culinary brigade of Market by Jean-Georges to ‘spice’ up the hotel restaurant’s menu with six signature Spice Market dishes.
