Malaysian Spiced Chicken Curry

Malaysian Spiced Chicken Stew

Malaysian Spiced Chicken Stew from a stand in Kuala Lumpur

This was my first taste of Malaysian food, from a street hawker down an alley in Kuala Lumpur’s Bukit Bintang area. This chicken leg was braised in a savory sauce, rich with cinnamon, star anise, coriander, and cumin. This stew, sauteed cabbage, and fresh pickles cost 5RM ($1.65)

I’m on location in Malaysia for the next three weeks to bring you images of the food and culture just south of Thailand. If you think of a food I should try, or something you’d like to learn about, leave a comment and I’ll check it out!
