Curries play a prominent role in the cuisines of Asia. Here is a (very) brief summary of curries from Asian countries other than Thailand with some example curry dishes and links to recipes. Malay Beef Rendang Curry, which is "nothing like curry" according to Indonesian food writer, Sri Owen. It is a dish originating in Sumatra, a part of Indonesia, and has spread throughout Malaysia with several variations; one of these variations includes coconut milk, chilies, garlic, ginger, galangal, lemongrass, coriander, cumin and tamarind.
