Morning Visit to a Thai Food Market – Part 1
Come and take a look with me to see what’s on offer at the average Thai food market! Despite shopping at my local market for many years, when armed with a camera and a mission I saw the place anew. I was actually astounded by the wide variety of fresh produce on offer – truly a photographer and gourmand’s delight.
Because there are so many different types of ingredients and foods for sale even in a small market, I have split this post into parts, and will start by introducing the vegetables. Thais consume a lot of vegetables in dishes ranging from a simple fried rice, vegetarian Tom Yum Soup (for our recipe click here) and even carved into works of art.
There may not be a strong tradition of vegetarianism in Thailand, but most Thais eat a lot of vegetables as part of their daily diet. Often eaten raw as accompaniments to other foods, vegetables also feature in many cooked dishes and are almost always a large part of a typical Thai meal.
