Cardamom Seeds
Cardamon seeds (pods or in Thai luk krawan) are the whole dried fruit of the cardamon plant and are used as a spice in many Asian cuisines, including Thailand. The white round pod is the preferred type of cardamon seed used in Thai cooking. These hard shelled pods contain tiny black seeds and are fragrant when cooked.

Cardamon is not typically used in Thai cooking but is a required ingredient for the famous Southern dish Masaman Curry. Khao Buri ('city' rice), a dish adopted from ancient Arab traders, is another Thai dish which includes this aromatic spice.

Cardamon is considered to be a carminative, diuretic, laxative and tonic for the heart. It is also said to alleviate tooth ache.

Store cardamon in a cool dry place in a glass or metal sealed container.
